Terms and conditions

For the iReading Room app at app.ireadingroom.com and its paid plans. Last updated 7 November 2026.

1. Who we are

iReading Room is run by Majid Golshadi, trading as Reading Room (iReading Room), Chausseestraße 122, 10115 Berlin, Germany (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@ireadingroom.com. Our legal notice has all our details.

2. These terms

These terms are the agreement between you and us for using iReading Room. You accept them when you create an account or buy a plan. If you use iReading Room for a company, you accept them for that company and confirm that you may. They are written in English, which is the language of our contract.

3. What iReading Room does

iReading Room finds new research papers that match what you describe, ranks and summarises them for you, and lets you read and annotate them. The plans and what each includes are on our pricing page.

Rankings, scores and summaries are made by machine, partly by AI models. They can be wrong or incomplete and are not professional advice, so check what matters before you rely on it.

We may change the service for a good reason, such as new features, security, or a change in the law or in a service we depend on, at no extra cost to you. If a change makes your paid plan noticeably worse, we email you in good time beforehand. You can then end your plan free of charge within 30 days of the change or of our email, whichever is later, and we refund what you paid for the time after it ends.

4. The free trial

A new account starts with a free trial of 7 days. You don’t give any payment details for it, and nothing is charged unless you buy a plan.

We email you 2 days before your trial ends. When it ends without a plan, your account is frozen: you can’t use iReading Room until you buy a plan, and buying one unfreezes it straight away, with all your data. We email you when it freezes and again 2 days later.

If a frozen account still has no plan 3 months after it was frozen, we delete it and everything in it, as our privacy page describes. We email you 30 days before we do.

5. Solo and Team plans

A Solo plan is for one person. Don’t share your sign-in or your access tokens. If several people at a company use iReading Room, the company needs a Team plan.

A Team plan is for a company and its people, for use in its business. On a Team plan we process the personal data your team puts into iReading Room on your behalf, as your processor, and sign a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) with you.

6. Buying, renewing and cancelling

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders.

So when you buy a plan, you buy it from Paddle, under Paddle’s Buyer Terms. Paddle takes your payment, sends your invoice and handles tax. These terms cover your use of iReading Room.

A plan renews automatically for another month or year, whichever you chose, until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time with the link in your email from Paddle, at paddle.net, or by writing to us; your plan then runs to the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.

If you are a consumer, you also have a statutory right to withdraw from a purchase, which Paddle’s Buyer Terms explain. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.

7. Fair use

Use iReading Room for your own research and work. Please don’t: scrape it, download from it in bulk, or resell or redistribute what it shows you; access it by program other than through your own access token; try to get around its security or limits, or overload it; use it to break the law or anyone else’s rights. If your use causes a problem, we contact you before we limit anything, unless we must act at once to protect the service or other users.

8. Your content

What you add, such as papers, notes and project descriptions, stays yours. You let us store and process it only as needed to run iReading Room for you. Only add material you are allowed to use. How we handle personal data is on our privacy page.

9. Ending your account, and when we can suspend it

You can delete your account at any time in the app’s Settings.

We may suspend or close an account if its plan is not paid, if it is used for fraud or puts the service or other users at risk, or if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken. Unless we must act at once, we warn you first and give you a chance to put it right.

We may also end a plan at the end of a billing period, telling you by email at least 30 days before.

10. Liability

We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act, and where we have given a guarantee.

For slight negligence we are liable only if we breach an obligation that is essential to the contract, meaning one you must be able to rely on for the contract to work, and then only for the damage that is typical and foreseeable for a contract like this.

During a free trial, or on any free account, we are liable only for intent and gross negligence, except for injury to life, body or health.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we email you the new version at least 30 days before it takes effect. A change to the price or to what your plan includes applies to you only if you agree to it. If you don’t want to continue under changed terms, you can end your account or plan before they take effect.

12. Law

German law applies. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live.
